This 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 is a two-door sports coupe that was refurbished under prior ownership in New Mexico prior to the seller’s acquisition in March 2018. Refurbishment work included a repaint in red, an interior refresh with black vinyl upholstery, and an overhaul of the K-code 289ci V8 and the four-speed manual transmission. Additional service performed under current ownership has included mounting four BFGoodrich tires, refurbishing of the distributor and carburetor, and replacing the steering box, fuel lines, exterior badging and trim, headliner, and carpeting, as well as overhauling the suspension and exhaust systems.
The body was disassembled and refinished in its factory shade of Rangoon Red (J) during the refurbishment performed under previous ownership, and the exterior features chrome bumpers, quad headlights, reverse lights, a left-side mirror, and refurbished badging and trim.
Steel 14″ wheels wear chrome wire wheel covers with faux knock-off centers and are mounted with BFGoodrich Silvertown thin-whitewall tires. A full-size spare mounted with a Michelin tire is mounted in the trunk along with a jack. The suspension system was overhauled during the refurbishment according to the seller, and the steering box was replaced at the same time. An additional set of wheel covers is included in the sale.
Twin low-back front bucket seats and a rear bench have been reupholstered in black vinyl and are paired with a matching replacement headliner and carpeting. Additional equipment includes a chrome-lined dashboard, a heater, a center console with storage, a push-button AM radio, and Fairlane-embroidered floor mats.
The three-spoke steering wheel with a chrome horn button frames a 120-mph speedometer and gauges displaying fuel level and coolant temperature, and a Rotunda tachometer is mounted on top of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer was reset during the refurbishment and currently shows under 200 miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The K-code 289ci V8 was overhauled during the refurbishment, and is equipped with a larger Hi-Po alternator drive pulley. Additional features include gold valve covers and a chrome air cleaner, as well as a rebuilt Autolite 4100 series four-barrel carburetor and dual-point distributor. The fuel lines were replaced under current ownership according to the seller.
Power is sent rearward through a rebuilt four-speed manual transmission, and the seller states that the rear axle was also overhauled and the exhaust components were replaced.
